Hello I've found the SDCC-Project and it's very good. And I've think about a GUI for SDCC. But when I download a Pre-Compilet Version or compile it with cygwin I ever need the "Cygwin1.dll" to compile a File. And when I make a GUI, I would like to integrate a compilet version of SDCC. So that the User can install it an work with it. it's shit when hi must install Cygwin to work with it. Can I compile the SDCC-Source so that the Cygwin1.dll is integrated? Moin, moin Rolf, (i use now english as this also goes to the user forum) you have 3 options now. 1.) take it as it is, and wait until one of the other two options is the "normal" way how sdcc works, but in this case you will need the cygwin1.dll that is part of cygwin and therefore has some kind of copyright ... and is slow. (but you could start with you GUI. This idea has been posted here several times but i only knew of the xemacs GUI .... 2.) build sdcc with borland bc55 (what is free), but you will need cygwin for that too. but i am not shure for the moment, if the copiled files will need cygwin1.dll. also sdcdb will not be build with bc55. ... is a bit faster and works too. 3.) wait until sdcc can be compiled with mingw32 so no further need for cygwin1.dll i have tried to compile it with mingw32, but i failed so all sdcc builds i have sent to the OKR web site are like the first option. i remember that one of the developer had successfully compiled sdcc using mingw32, but no "how-to" has been released (yet, i guess no time for that). this could be the fasted version. So, what are you going to implement ? Some freeware tools like the Textpad have the possability to be programmed with macros, so that there is only a mouse-clic to save-compile-search-error-retry-burn-eprom-run-feel-lucky ... sdcc can be used with make or batch files. i guess i what is missing is a gui for the debugger / simulator that stops the user from hacking and hacking to watch a couple of variables after each single step. (have you seen the debugger in BC31 ?) maybe by using the great (but under windows very slow) possability to control the debugger / simulator over the net (pc - pc). This works great. a linux pc (as it seems to be faster) runs the debugger / simulator and a windows pc watches / controls (i use TeraTerm for that). Dipl.-Ing.
