Unfortunately the "Game list" does not display on Linux like on Windows.
I can't put the "Game list" under the board like on windows but stays on the right even if I select "Move to bottom".
I can only put the "Game list" under the board if I undock it, but I don't want to have more than one window open for the same application.
I thought the GUI is the same for all operating systems, but I was wrong.
On windows the "Game list" is on the bottom and across the whole width of the application, on Linux I don't have that option.
It is possible, just confusing.
First, drag all docked windows to the one "column", then select "move to bottom" for the gamelist.
I haven't managed to copy in linux the default windows layout.
"move to bottom" doesn't put the "Game list" under the board like in windows, it stays on the same column on the right but on the bottom which is useless since the width of the column is small and if I increase the width then the board gets smaller. Not convenient at all.
I want it to be across the whole width of the application on bottom just like in windows.
This is not possible in linux.
And if it is possible then why isn't the default layout just like in windows?
In Linux under the board there are game information like this:
Game 0: ? -- ?
* (0) ????
?: ? (?)
Last move: (Start of game) Next: (End of game)
Which is not present in windows and allowing docking the tabs on bottom the whole width of the application, not only the column on the right...
I don't get the bug. Here I paste a screenshot where the game list is down the board.
Great, thanks. I've managed to get that layout (it was not that easy) but there are still some problems compared to the windows version:
1. The settings are gone after I close the applications and open it again, meaning I can't save the layout I want, so I suggest similar default layouts for windows and linux.
2. I can't get rid of that thing under the board:
"Game 0: ? -- ?
* (0) ????
?: ? (?)
Last move: (Start of game) Next: (End of game)"
The info in the PGN viewer are enough, and that thing is just making the board smaller and wasting space. This thing is not present in the windows version, at least I didn't found it.
To save the layout you do the following (I hope I'm translating it well):
Options -> Windows -> Save Layout, and you click one of the three slots available. The first one will come by default. To retrieve any of the three, Options -> Windows -> Restore Layout.
To hide the thing in your second point, you right-click the board tab and choose 'Show game info' or something similar.
It is a good idea to always try to right-click the tabs in SCID, because there may be some hidden goodies in there. I don't know how many times I searched for the masks, and they were hidden into the tree tab all along.
Thank you very much !
Problem solved !
