    P Cause - 2012-02-19

I Synced using my smartphone reader and saw hundreds of items, which was
strange since RSSowl was showing many fewer items. More, I saw items from 2
days ago and I know that I had synced and all were read as as 3-4 PM
yesterday. I opened Google Reader and saw that the counts for various feeds
were different. I picked a feed and saw articles from 3 days ago as unread. I
looked at RSSowl and these arecles were there and marked as read. I did a sync
for the feed and nothing changed on either end. The tools/sync status shows a
sync with reader 20 minutes ago, when I did the manual sync.

So, there is something strage happening with the google reader sync. I did
have a crash a few days ago and I wonder if some items are marked as read on
rssowl but never synced back to google. something is amiss in the sync
    process.

There is just one single log entry which seems strange to me:

    !ENTRY org.rssowl.core 1 0 2012-02-16 08:27:25.141
!MESSAGE Detected an Online Backup that did not complete

but this should not corrupt RSSOwl's Feed Database…

Is this problem still present? Did you try de-syncronizing with Google Reader
(delete synchronization configuration and recreate sync)? Please do backup
your data before you do that.

Btw: you should update your version of Java, it is outdated and has security
    vulnerabilities: http://java.com/

Did the steps you suggested and it didn't completely fix things. Went into the
mobile reader and caught things up and now both RSSowl and the mobile reader
seem to give the same results and they match Google Reader.

Thnaks on the jvm issue. Thought I had just updated but will do another
    update.

… looks like a Google Reader issue to me, can't do anything about it.

Just to say, RSSOwl has a backup of items that where not synced to GR and will
retry to sync with GR on a dirty shutdown. In theory if RSSOwl crashes before
this list is stored to disk (flushed) it might get lost, but its very
    unlikely.

RSSOwl 2.1.4 is out with a fix for the "400 Bad Request" issue when RSSOwl
tries to synchronize many news to GR. If you are still seeing this issue with
2.1.4, a workaround is to limit the number of news per feed (using Properties

    Clean Up settings).
