RSS Owl is a powerful application allowing you to organize, search and read all of your RSS & Atom feeds in a comfortable way. Highlights are saved searches, clean-up, notification from tray, filters, fast fulltext search, flexible & clean user interface
The program has problems with a large number of feeds (300+), but it generally runs okay.
Very Well, thank you very much
I have tried several RSS readers and stay with RSS OWL. It is useful enough to recommend it, even though it has some irritations / flaws / bugs. As is common - unfortunately, documentation is not a strong feature. At the very least, I recommend RSSOWL should be tried, manipulated and experienced for say a week of daily use to get the feel of it's performance in the users environment. When installed, RSSOWL has lots of feeds listed - lots! It's a great example of the diversity of topical feeds but can be overwhelming for some. To make matters simpler for the trial, do go to the "Options" "Clean up" and set the clean period for say seven days for ALL bookmarks which will reduce the overwhelming feeling when faced with mountain of feeds initially. I say this after a friend doing a trial became "overloaded" with all of the dead links for non-current feed posts. Of course, you could use a more gradual clean up period beginning with say 30 days, and work yourself downward in retaining less and less older posts. The great thing about RSSOwl is the ability to "tweak" options and settings, layouts, etc. That is a strong strength. Of course, the above comments are just opinions of one current user. -> Your <- priorities and tolerances are what matters.
