This happens with ROX-filer 1.1.7 (w/ ROX-base 1.0.1),
compiled from the tarball. Choosing "Display/Create
Thumbs" from the Context menu causes ROX-filer to crash
with the following message (after *lots* of warning
complaining about missing handlers for certain files):
** ERROR **: file io-ico.c: line 309 (DecodeHeader):
assertion failed: (0)
aborting...
Doing an strace on rox shows that this happens when
ROX-filer tries to create a thumbnail of a possibly
broken TGA-file.
ROX-filer was compiled using gcc 2.95.2; the version of
gdk-pixbuf is 0.11.0. The system's linux 2.4.9 / glibc
2.1.3. If you need any further information, do not
hesitate to contact me.

You can send me the file in question if you like.
It's almost certainly a bug in gdk-pixbuf; if so, it
should be reported here:
