Hello! I have been learning and enjoying this impressive program for a couple of days. (I had used Cakewalk Pro Audio 4.0 way back in 1996 which has helped reduce the learning curve for Rosegarden.) Today I ran into some trouble that I don't know how to fix: The matrix editor won't open anymore. (It had been working fine.) When I select a segment and press "M", or select the matrix editor on the toolbar, nothing happens. I tried a few files including a MIDI import and a saved RG file to see if the problem could be associated with data in a specific file, but the problem remains. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled Rosegarden. It reinstalled okay, but my problem remains: matrix editor won't open. {Might this issue be related to a GUI issue that happened yesterday? Rosegarden was maximized (occupying the entire display except for the Unity toolbar along the left edge). I double clicked Rosegarden's top line, or possibly dragged the frame Rosegarden was in, to resize its window.: I wanted to display the matrix editor, segments canvas, and notation editor all in smaller windows. The main Rosegarden window resized smaller, but started flashing and redrawing itself very rapidly. In particular Rosegarden's top line -- I couldn't tell if it was the menu or toolbar -- kept redrawing in two positions: line 1 then line 2, rapidly alternating (it was difficult to perform any GUI operations or see exactly which window element was involved, while the display was rapidly flashing). I was able to somehow maximize Rosegarden again. After maximized, Rosegarden appeared to return to normal function, and I did further editing in the matrix and notation editors. The failure of the matrix editor to open may or may not be related to this other GUI situation.} Versions: Ubuntu 13.04 with all current software updates. Rosegarden 12.12.25 from the Ubuntu Software Center. If there is some way to remove or reset any faulty GUI settings associated with Rosegarden, and start fresh, that would be satisfactory. I don't mind using Rosegarden full screen and avoiding the drag that started the GUI problem. Again I am very appreciative of this wonderful, comprehensive, sophisticated program, and sorry that my first communication to the developers is because of an issue. Regards, Marcia |
