I too have a similar issue, we use rosegarden to control a lot of synths and
audio processing units.

We use the patchbay functionality of qjackctl to automatically connect
everything. It works quite reliably most of the time, importantly we can
distribute patchbay definition files to the right hosts, and move rosgarden
files between hosts without having to wrestle with rosegarden's internal
patch bay.

Occasionally rosegarden makes connections that aren't supposed to be there
and all hell breaks lose.

If there was an option to have rosegarden not to make connections from it's
midi outputs, we would be very happy indeed.
