Hi Michael and the other Rosegarden developers. First, I'd like to congratulate you all for the excellent, hard work you've done on the QT4 port to get Thorn to it's current beta-release level. I've tried it out for the past couple weeks (started with alpha2, then the 10.02 beta) and am quite impressed by it - it appears to have virtually all of the functionality of the old version and has several improvements that make it easier to use and improve the workflow. I think Michael McIntyre especially deserves a great deal of credit for all of the effort he has put into this project. (I'd like to give him a long, standing ovation [hopefully, many others will join me], although I think he deserves more than that - like a nice, expensive keyboard/synthesizer.) From what I can tell, Michael has been the effective manager for the Thorn project and he also appears to function as the main developer (AKA, they guy who has done the most coding, bug-fixing, documenting, etc. work). However, I realize that several other people have also done a lot of work and deserve recognition; and I think that Rosegarden would not exist as it is without Chris Cannam's original hard work and the expertise he still contributes. So - congratulations to you all, with special praise to Michael for his great dedication. Now, for some bug reports, to try to help make the final February release as good as possible: First, I saw from one of Michael's emails to the devel list that the beta release, which is the last release I tested on, is quite out of date by now. So, apologies if any of these bugs have been addressed already. By the way, I'm happy to enter these into the RG bug database if that will save some work - just let me know. ================================================================== Title: core dump results from moving a segment all the way to the left Severity: moderate How to reproduce: Record a track to create a segment with the recorded data. Don't start playing right away so that the segment starts after the beginning of the "piece". Move the segment to the beginning of the "piece" (all the way to the left in the main window). This causes rosegarden to exit with a segmentation violation. jackd also crashes. (Does rg send jackd a signal when it crashes?) ================================================================== Title: Rosegarden core dumps on quitting Severity: minor How to reproduce: File -> Quit (or hit Ctl-Q) Rosegarden aborts with a core dump. (E.g., the following is was reported on my terminal: [1]+ Aborted (core dumped) /home/jtc/music/rosegarden/builds/rosegarden-10.02-beta/rosegarden > /tmp/thorn-$$-6 2>&1 ) That's it for now. Thanks.
