You might try the Linux Audio Users list for better help diagnosing general 
audio performance problems.  Rosegarden is the symptom you're trying to 
treat, but it's surely complaining about processor power because of something 
in your setup.

You lost me when you said you had a Core 2 Duo processor.  I know there have 
been some issues, but I haven't paid much attention to any of that, because 
I've always just had single core machines so far.

I see in your most recent message you fixed it by building a newer JACK.  It's 
entirely possible that was a valid fix.
