Strange that it wouldn't work with the bottom ruler, the problem was the = same=20 in both cases : you really needed to move the mouse very quickly in one=20 direction to "jumpstart" the autoscroll. Strangely enough, turning the st= atic=20 vars used to compute the autoscroll into plain members seem to have fixed= it=20 (as noted in the svn commit note, my guess is that the static was being=20 accessed through different objects).
