Formerly we had "normal" mode, chord mode and triplet mode. These controlled entry from the computer keyboard as well as step recording. Your modes described above refer specifically to step recording, and in particular the new "chord overlapping" (default) mode has no meaning when entering notes from the computer keyboard. So it doesn't entirely make sense to have it as one of a set of modes that affects both (as is the case in current svn). Were you expecting to pull this out into a new set of three modes for step recording, separate from the keyboard-entry modes? It was with a view to avoiding this complication, and also avoiding the problem of having an inconsistently applied mode within the existing computer keyboard + step recording mode set, that I suggested we remove the options for step recording and make this the only behaviour for it. > I am going to implement these to the NotationView and MatrixView > soon. Current implementation is still a bit preliminary. I'm quite keen on fait accompli as a means of getting new features and fixes incorporated, but in a case like this where you might be committing in stages, or where the user interface seems to have some scope for ambiguity, it's probably a good idea to tell the list what you're intending as you commit.
