I never use any of open, save... icon shortcut. What I use mostly is "new". I guess that has someting to do with testing "job" I gave to myself. It's most unlikely that ordinary user presses that button more than once a week, or so. Print and print preview fall into the same category. It's logical approach to print from where you have something to print. Like notation editor. Cut, copy and paste "naturalized" as ctrl-* among users. I must say that these are probably the only icons I've never clicked on. As of editors toolbar, I'm not sure what to say. Except that I'll try to force user to access them by on-canvas right mouse button press. This one is overloaded with options. I'll say more about that later. Transport toolbar is not needed at all (at least not by default), becouse transport window can be turned on/off really easily. We have keyboard shortcut for that one, I think?! IP/SP box should follow that pattern too. "Mute..." and "track..." toolbar is redundant, too. Defaut studio provides us enough tracks already. Who wants more or less of them - has a shotcuts keys. As of mute operations, those should be somehow placed above track label box. Tools toolbar should stay! Specific editor views lack of toolbars and features! :) Take a look at the RMB menu in the studio. Twenty options?! Twice counted! First of all, I think we have serious organization problems here. Editors appears first - that's good. Sort of.. One option is always repeated -- default editor. That is cofigurable option and should not be presented as one of choices - it supposed to ease the work - "enter" key. Another approach is to remove that named default editor from the rest of the editors list. Undo and redo are needless at this point. There's nothing in common with segment editing and these two. Cut, Copy, delete and join (where's paste?) have their purpose if segment(s) are selected, but if not they are just taking place. At least, I have no need to see them by clicking on canvas with no segment(s) selected. Then I'm probably looking for more general tools options (pencil, delete, split, etc.). And these are "third group" in order of appearance?! Again with one "place holder" -- tool you're already using. Not to mention that in order to get eraser there's 500 pixels long way - there and back, where you originaly clicked. :) That would be all! Vlada |
