Fair enough, and glad you caught me before I pulled the necessary glyphs out of the font and put them into more accessible places in some new font. In many ways it's just coming back to the stupid looking "glow" that we're trying to get rid of in the first place, but at least the translucent border lets it take on a tint of whatever the background color is. I think it will look less stupid than a less orderly glow that's gray-weighted, but maybe there's an even better idea waiting to be discovered.
