Hi, Thanks for Clemens I now see that for some Linux MIDI devices their drivers give a more human friendly name. Would it be possible for Rosegarden to display this port name instead of the client name? If so, I think those of us with multiple hardware interfaces would have an easier time. The aconnect -io code should be a clue on how to obtain this info. FYI - there are problems with BOTH of my devices. The HDSP 9652 doesn't list a name like the MidiSport, and the numbering is incorrect. For the MidiSport I have an older Alsa and it's listing the output ports as input ports. Both of these are fixable. Thanks, Mark [mark@Godzilla mark]$ aconnect -io client 0: 'System' [type=kernel] 0 'Timer ' 1 'Announce ' client 64: 'External MIDI 0' [type=kernel] 0 'MIDI 0-0 ' 32 'MIDI 0-1 ' client 72: 'External MIDI 1' [type=kernel] 0 'Midisport 2x2 Port 0' 1 'Midisport 2x2 Port 1' 2 'Midisport 2x2 Port 2' 3 'Midisport 2x2 Port 3' [mark@Godzilla mark]$ |
