Davy: Thanks for the quick response. I've done some experiments with various raw file sizes. Here is the long list of the directory as it currently stands: drwxr-xr-x 2 jao users 232 Mar 2 11:17 . drwxrwx--- 98 jao users 12048 Mar 2 11:19 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 jao users 2202 Mar 1 09:15 gcdmshaferdarr -rw-r--r-- 1 jao users 3650912250 Mar 1 14:30 m2.raw -rw-r--r-- 1 jao users 912326944 Mar 2 11:12 shaferdarr.raw -rw-r--r-- 1 jao users 912327892 Mar 1 09:18 shaferdarr.wav -rw-r--r-- 1 jao users 60768256 Mar 2 11:04 trackone.raw -rw-r--r-- 1 jao users 60768390 Mar 1 09:14 trackone.wav When I attempt to open files, with either the raw filter or all files filter, the only _raw_ files I see are: shaferdarr.raw trackone.raw m2.raw, which is 3.7 gig, does not appear in the open file box. (Before when I tried to load raw files, they were all about this size, so I did not realize that smaller ones would work.) Could I snail mail you a DVD-ROM with one of these files on it? Keep in mind that iso9660 apparently does not support files of this size in its directory information, but the files are complete and intact on the DVD. You just have to copy the raw file onto a hard drive to get it into a FAT table (equivalent) that you can work with. Programs that use the FAT table data off the DVD truncate the raw file. I record live concerts at 96/24, so virtually everything I do starts out at 3+ gig. I would very much like to load these things into ReZound, slice out the excessive gaps between pieces, using the crossfade feature to avoid sniffs between movements/pieces. This is part of my plan to move all my audio work onto open source software. I am pushing the limits here with the 2.6.3 kernel and ReZound 0.90beta on Gentoo. Many thanks for some truly great work, John |
