Here's a fix, I found. I haven't tried it through. To get rid of the annoying font problems: 1> Download the URW fonts from http://www.gimp.org/urw-fonts.tar.gz 2> Untar the file in your X11R6 fonts directory. Usually this is /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts (i.e. tar zxvf urw-fonts.tar.gz) 3> Modify the xfs config file. The file is /etc/X11/fs 4> Add the line /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/URW to the catalogue. Make sure each line has a comma at the end, except the last line of the catalogue command. Here is how mine looks: catalogue = /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/URW, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo, /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi, /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1 5> Restart xfs (i.e. /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs restart) Nick On Fri, 2002-01-04 at 09:22, Rick Riolo wrote: > > Do any of you have this problem with fonts under redhat 7.2 ? > > adsl-152-Test-evolver$ java -jar ../evolver/lib/evolver.jar > Font specified in font.properties not found > [-*-standard symbols l-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] > Font specified in font.properties not found [-*-standard symbols > l-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] > Font specified in font.properties not found [-*-standard symbols > l-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] > ... > and lots more > ... > > I get similar complaints with the repast (1.3.1) demos: > > adsl-152-Test-evolver$ /appl/j2re1.3.1/bin/java -jar > /appl/repast1.3.1/demo/mousetrap/trap.jar > Font specified in font.properties not found [-*-standard symbols > l-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] > Font specified in font.properties not found [-*-standard symbols > l-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] > Font specified in font.properties not found [-*-standard symbols > l-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] > ... > > My rh7.2 is more or less out of the box. > > I could send output to /dev/null, but i prefer not to > have those confusions for new users. > > Any ideas? > > Thanks, > > - r > > -- > Rick Riolo rl...@um... > Center for Study of Complex Systems (CSCS) > 4477 Randall Lab > University of Michigan Ann Arbor MI 48109-1120 > Phone: 734 763 3323 Fax: 734 763 9267 > http://www.pscs.umich.edu/PEOPLE/rlr-home.html > > > _______________________________________________ > Repast-interest mailing list > Rep...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/repast-interest -- Nick Collier Social Science Research Computing University of Chicago http://repast.sourceforge.net |
