I have just installed refit 13 on macbook pro 5,3. Used for tripple boot with Suse 11.2 and Windows XP. When selecting either of the other OS's refit takes me to a black screen. I recieve no error msg or feedback, When I run partition tool it says everything is sync'd. I have redone with just a dual boot, either OSX and Suse or OSX and WinXP and get the same results. Even when using boot camp for instal and refit for boot option. If i reboot, hold option tab I can select drives and boot in to OS no problem. Any thoughts as to what the problem may be? Or any information I can supply to help trouble shoot this error that I asume is probably on my side? Or has anyone else run into this problem as well?

    I have a similare (or identical) problem. The machine I use is a MacBook 1,1 (2006, may be first Intel architecture, CoreDuo 1.83GHz). The internal disk is partitioned like this:
    sda/
    sda1 -> EFI
    sda2 -> ext4
    sda2 -> swap
    sda4 -> ntfs
    sda5 -> hfs+

    ntfs partition is empty, atm, ext4 and swap have a Linux installation (Kubuntu). I installed GRUB to sda2. rEFIt's Partition Manager shows GRUB on sda2 (strangely, it says, the OS X partition would have no boot code, but I just booted it, am writing from it). However, when I chose Linux in rEFIt all I get is a dead black screen, as there would have been no code loaded, all I can do is to switch power off, which happens immediatly, as soon I hit the button (this is why I say, there is no code loaded, as it would be just the hardware running). Here is the Patition Manager's output:

    *** Report for internal hard disk ***

    Current GPT partition table:
    # Start LBA End LBA Type
    1 40 409639 EFI System (FAT)

    Current MBR partition table:

    Listed in GPT as partition 3, type Linux Swap

    Partition at LBA 55097344:
    Boot Code: Unknown, but bootable
    File System: NTFS
    Listed in GPT as partition 4, type Basic Data
    Listed in MBR as partition 4, type 07 NTFS/HPFS

    Partition at LBA 387127296:
    Boot Code: None
    File System: HFS Extended (HFS+)
    Listed in GPT as partition 5, type Mac OS X HFS+

    gptsync.efi tells me, that all is fine, no need to resync.

    Anybody? Thanks a lot!

    I should maybe add, that there is no blinking cursor, no nothing. And I am using 0.14 of rEFIt.
