rEFIt is a boot menu and maintenance toolkit for EFI-based machines like the Intel Macs.
some quirky behavior sometimes w/ different flavors of linux etc, but there always is a way.. for me the rule of thumb was to always reboot the mac TWICE and reboot cleanly after installing refit, before installing your second OS, ensuring the refit menu comes up successfully before even dropping in any other OS live/install cd/dvd. If then after installing your second OS you happen to get a "missing OS" or "hard drive error" after selecting linux in the refit boot menu, try shuttng down and loading either an ubuntu 9.10 or openSUSE 11 live cd. just boot from it. somehow just this has seemed to work as magic incantation for I think any intel mac I've ever set up as dual (or penta, octa, deca so on) boot
Wonderful Tool, No need to hold alt key at boot up
Very helpful, thank you!
