.net 2 doesn't really bring you that much "new" technological = advancement. As far as asp.net 2.0 you get some new controls, and wizards to make = sites easier and quicker....=20 You get some other stuff like ado.net and membership, which are things = you will be able to tie in later if you progress the code accordingly.=20 But again... .net 2.0 as a core would be an all new rainbow.=20 As bill said, you will be able to code new genesis in both 1.1 and 2.0, = so the discussion isn't really worth the effort right now, unless you move = to actually discussing what points of .net 2.0 you want to bring into the = game. Master Templates? Memeberships? Or what? As a framework... you don't get much form just saying lets compile 2.0 instead of 1.1 for the same application. If you take 2.0 into consideration with newGenesis then you = get actually added value when it comes the time. -----Original Message----- From: rai...@li... Subject: RE: [Rainbowportal-devel] ASP 2.0 It seems to me that some of features of Rainbow are implemented by=20 VS 2005 in different but better way, however, as model for portal, rainbow still has its very attractive parts. My opinion is that sooner or later, we need to switch to VS 2005 to catch up the technological advancement. We'd better start to do something as soon as possible. =20 Hongwei -----Original Message----- From: Jonathan Minond [mailto:jon...@jo...]=20 Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2005 4:58 PM To: rai...@li... Subject: RE: [Rainbowportal-devel] ASP 2.0 VS 2005 is beta.... so it's a nice excersice and good preparation But rb 2005 solution is .net 1.1 and will stay that way for a while. There have been some tests and people who I believe started converting RB to .net 2.0 but you can't use this in a commercial site. All the RB 1.5 series is .net 1.1 RB New Genesis is also .net 1.1 -----Original Message----- From: rai...@li... Are anyone developing RB on VS2005, using asp.NET 2.0? Should we start using 2005? Lars Grxtteland Prodit AS Norway __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam?
