Hello A couple of months ago I messed up and bought the "wrong" type of Quickcam :-( I have downloaded the latest CVS qc-usb source. I have a Messenger (0x046D / 0x08F0) cam and I am willing to do the basics to get the data stream and decode if I can. I have RH9 running an OpenMosix 2.4.22 kernel but I can use any 2.4 kernel if that would be better. I have not yet started running the 2.6 kernel and would prefer to not switch yet as it usually takes several days recompiling dirvers and applications to get it all working agian. There is a message from f.f...@ie... on the 01/08/03 13:59 in gmane.linux.drivers.quickcam.general which says I was able only to do a silly hack on the qce-ga-0.40d driver to make it knowing the device and registering itself as the right driver for the device (under the hotplugging method), but I simply can't do anything useful with this. is this possibly the code that Albert Tumanov is thinking of ? ha...@te... on the 05/09/03 10:27 in gmane.linux.drivers.quickcam.general wrote I was experimenting around with the raw data mentioned earlier in the list. I have spent a couple of evenings trying to get USB Snoop to work with W2K and XP but I must be doing something wrong as I can not capture any data on either system so I decided working directly on the driver would be most efficient way to move forward. I was also going to look at the other quickcam drivers to see if any of those algorithms helped any (I know its a long shot but you never know). I do have 10+ years of programming experience but not Linux device drivers or video processing. I have however worked writing SCADA software, PLC compilers, embeded software, etc so I am reasonably hardware oriented. Tuukka Toivonen I notice in the source code there is {{{ [fold] markers. Which tool / emacs lisp script generates and uses this info ? I am sorry for not spending more time reading up on the video aspects but I am hoping to spend that time decrypting the video stream.
