Michael,

	Actually, much more affordable than Premiere these days is
Quicktime Pro ($30) which can, on the Mac only (I think), directly
import a sequence PNG files from PyMOL and write out compressed
Quicktime or AVI files.  

	If you're tied to Windows, I don't yet know of a better solution
than Premiere.  Perhaps someone else on the list knows of a cool tool on
the PC which allows direct import of PNG sequences?

	Regarding Premiere, the only standard codec worth using is
Cinepak, but you've got to play around with the settings (quality, key
frames, data rate) to get the best results.  I usually use 99%, 640x480,
29.97 fps, keyframe every 9999 frames (you need at least one or Cinepak
gets loopy), and a data rate 1-3 MB per second.

	I disagree with JP's 12 fps...30 fps is well worth the space for
the added smoothness, so long as you're presenting off of your laptop
and not sending files over the internet.  For files posted on the
internet, JP's comments are right on the money -- "late model" codecs
are a must.

So I have heard that adobe premiere is the best for making movies from 
the frames.  If I have the frames in .tga format, could anyone sugguest 
settings for compression, format etc.
