Scan type would be ambiguous: HCD, CID, and ETD are activation or dissociation types. Is this a project-specific need or will it be used publicly? I don't know whether changing the title string would break any downstream applications that may be depending on the current pwiz MGF TITLE format. So if you can get away with just making this change locally that would be best.
