Personally I suspect this is SDL's fault, and not much to be done about it unless Colin Phipps's (unused?) X11-specific code is to be merged back in. On the other hand, the sound effect mixing routines are much better than those in l[sx]doom (which fell back to the pre-1.3 custom of assuming every sound was 11025 Hz!). -- Matthew W.
