To make it work, you need PPP modules for 2.6.x. These are not yet in the upstream PPP project's CVS, but contributions from PPTP users have been collected into kernelmod CVS. There have been further contributions on the pptpclient-devel mailing list. The best mailing list to engage would be the PPP one. It's their baby.
