We could put up a proposal for iTXT - identical to iTXt but unsafe-to-copy. We could even do tXML - indicating that the data should be valid XML! Alternatively Adobe could propose tXMP. Any of these solutions would, I think, not be controversial. The only controversial thing is pre-empting the approval process...
