I have installed the gd library with png and jpeg support, but the plplot configure consistently fails the test that checks on this support. Any suggestions? This is for plplot 5.1.0. Michael |

That's the most common problem, but if you have gd.h installed somewhere on your system, then here are a set of additional questions. What were the messages given to you when you ran the configure script? What version of gd? What directory on your system contains gd.h? What directory on your system contains libgd.so? What directory on your system contains libpng.so? What directory on your system contains libjpeg.so? What directory on your system contains libz.so? Note that gd.h and these libraries must all be installed on your system in order for the gd device driver of PLplot to be enabled. Furthermore, the configuration script only searches a very limited set of directories for these files/symlinks. If you have them installed in non-standard locations, I can give you a patch to widen the configuration search to your non-standard locations. But I would need the above information in order to do it. Note also that you are probably the first person to try the gd device driver on Solaris so there may be some additional issues. For example, the libraries there may be named *.a rather than *.so. If that is so, please let me know, and I can make an additional patch to cf/sysloc.in (one of the sources that autoconf uses to generated configure) to deal with that situation.
