Patches item #637685, was opened at 2002-11-13 05:16 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by seanegan You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=300235&aid=637685&group_id=235 Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed >Resolution: Out of Date Priority: 5 Submitted By: Sean Proctor (sproctor) Assigned to: Sean Egan (seanegan) Summary: reduce protocol menu Initial Comment: I submitted this before, this is an updated version that is a little cleaner, but I wasn't sure exactly how to handle history and notify. the last version no longer applies cleanly. basically I and some others feel that foobar from AOL is not the same person as foobar from IRC and this can really become confusing since GAIM currently gives no way to know whether someone who sends the message is from AOL or IRC, especially if you were already talking to the other one. this patch lacks some way to know, but the conversations would at least open in separate windows, and it provides the infrastructure. it would be ideal to display a protocol icon in the tab for one window GAIM, or name the protocol in the title for multiple window GAIM. Please reconsider applying. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Sean Egan (seanegan) Date: 2004-11-20 18:08 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=199625 This patch is over two years old. Yowza. Sorry about that. I'm not positive, but it sounds like the issues addressed are no longer relevent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sean Proctor (sproctor) Date: 2003-12-07 23:58 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=43755 The patch is horribly outdated, but the idea is still valid. I haven't read gaim source lately. Perhaps some of the issues have been resolved. I know the most visible one has been. if it's still showing buddies with the same name, but different protocols in the same window, I think that's bad. I think most people would agree. as for only being able to send from similar protocols, this is definitely still an issue. One that I think should be addressed. I just got a segfault from this that I'll post in another bug. But if gaim anytime supports local nicknames these should always be different as you defined them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=300235&aid=637685&group_id=235 |
