Hmmmm, Actually, now that he brings that up, I've heard the same report from one of my friends, except that it's OSCAR. I've been getting occasional phone calls from people asking why I'm not online, when I am / not invisible. The difference is that I can see the contacts, they just can't see me. It seems to be the same couple of people over and over again, so the possibility for user error does exist. I'll do some poking around next time someone asks me about it, but just thought I'd throw this out there. _____ From: gai...@li... (and nonintuitive) It is a known problem that in some situations specific MSN buddies will see you as offline even though you aren't. I'm not aware of what causes the problem, nor how it resolves itself, but it does not seem limited to Gaim -- I've heard the same report about the MSN-specific third party client aMSN, and a couple users claim to have even seen it happen on the official client though I can't verify it's actually happened. The problem is not related to the Gaim status interface. -Evan After playing aroud with the status listbox (and the the status popup menu for the systray), suddenly this buddy (and one another) appeared in my buddy list. The probability that they both signed on exactly when I changed status is ... very small, I think. Regards, David |
