I have a suggestion for a plug-in for, at least, the AOL version of Gaim. A while back I wanted to know if I was being blocked by people on AIM, so I got a second, random screen name and, on Linux, would sign on adding the screen names of people I thought were blocking me. I recently switched to Windows and when I ran both screen names at the same time Gaim put them in the same list. This was nice, but I realized the combined list got very long as I put more and more people's screen names in the random screen name. I put them in there so IF I was blocked on my regular screen name the blocker would still show up on my random screen name and not the other. The list grew very long however with doubles of every signed on person's screen name. I thought then it would be great if Gaim could associate both screen names, so both had the same buddy list. The second screen name would continuously check who was online according to the first screen name and who was online according to the second screen name and factor them out. Anyone who didn't have me blocked would show up on both screen names and would be passed over and anyone who did have me blocked would show up only on the random screen name. The random one would then add that name to a seperate catagory at the bottom of my Buddy List labed "Blocker". I would then have a list of everyone online on one Buddy List, and a copy of everyone blocking me at the very bottom of that list. I would write the program myself, but I know very little C++, and I believe Gaim is written in Python anyway. Thank you for your time, John (jpjenkins69) ----- End forwarded message ----- |
