Hi there, On Thu, Mar 20, 2003 at 06:15:38PM +0000, Prof. David Costa Robert Kennedy College, Suisse wrote: > Hello! > I am the project leader at CollegeLinux, a new small linux distribution > (www.collegelinux.org). With the release of 0.7, there is an output cache that caches most output for 15 minutes. So it confuses the issue some. If this is too long, or you don't want the output cache on, there are a couple of configuration variables to change in config.php ( not config.ini.php): 274: $JPCACHE_TIME = 900; // Default number of seconds to cache a page 277: $JPCACHE_ON = 1; // Turn caching on/off In addition - if you "view" a block in the Block Administration it will disregard the expire rate you mentioned and update the block. If a block is updated the output cache for pages that contain it are expired. > b) Is there any way to allow users (registred users) to post a new story > without the screening of the administrator? > Add storyNew, storySave, storyEdit, and storyList permissions to the user's group. This will allow the user to post stories and edit their own stories. > We need this because as the site has not forum by default, this could be used > for certain sections (like support) to allow users to post a question as they > would possibly do in a forum. > Unfortunately the ability to limit them to only post to certain sections didn't make it into the release. This is an area that the software is heading to, but hasn't been pushed too far. If you want to continue using phpBB, you might give Aric a ping: http://peoplecatcher.net/forums/index.php thanks, Joe > Thanks in advantage, > Very much obliged, > > David Costa > |
