Hello Folks, I'm on the verge of releasing a number of modules for phpSlash, as an extension of Back-End.org. It should allow folks to add photo galleries, hierarchical article/section indexes, links directories, file upload capacity, and even an online template editor to an existing phpSlash site (Mind you I haven't tested this yet, but theoretically it should be possible). In the future I can also see adding the online Bibliography & Profiles directory that I built based on phpSlash 0.6.2. There was a lot that I really liked about phpSlash's code structure, so rather than trying to build something scratch when building the next version of Back-End, I thought it would be better to build on an existing and stable code base. I'm about to release the code I've developed so far (along with your code and phplib). However I've got a couple outstanding questions. 1) What the heck should it be called. Can't really say that it's generated by either Back-End or phpSlash for all of the pages. Would like to give credit where credit is due and work towards a stronger common code base, but what the heck to call it... 2) Would be very nice to have some announcement on SF about this. If I could put out some common news update, I think it could get attention for both projects. However what would that look like. "Back-End adopts phpSlash code base for next release series. Back-End modules can add ... to news sites. Allows for browser friendly, flexible CMS ... " 3) Would be really nice if folks would be interested in looking over the code and trying out the modules that we've developed. If you're interested, please let me know. I haven't yet released the code to SF as I've been wanting others to take a look at it and install it before doing so. If you're interested, just send me a note outside of the list.
