Have you looked at the CVS version of phpslash? It appears to work the way you suggest... From what I can see, it *looks* like all that is needed to get users going is a "register" screen that would create a user with minimal permissions, and then dumping them back to the source page instead of going to the admin section. Then you'd want to use the class User to store user preferences.. and of course the pages to display these preferences and the code to propagate them throughout the site. Unless I'm totally off. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Zot O'Connor" <zo...@zo...> To: "PHPslash list" <php...@li...> Sent: Tuesday, September 04, 2001 12:07 PM Subject: [phpslash-users] How are users going to be implemented? > What is the status of implementing users? > > I know this is a bit off, but it looks like I will need to add it for a > project. > > I would like to do it the way it is planned, so either you can use my > code, or I can merge back. > > I am guessing a simple extension of the phplib class (Class Auth) of > user will work. > > So the sticky points start in with how do we handle psl_author vs phplib > user? > > It seems that at one view they are separate beast, an author/admin may > not want to log in as author/admin very time, but "become god" while > reading the site. > > Also the current perm structure, a series of if/then/else statements > should be replaced with a binary flag.
