Ok... now you need to make sure your config settings are correct. By the settings you indicated below, it looks like you need to set a couple things first. 1. You need to be sure that your remote host is setup to accept connections from your IP address. This is done through the pg_hba.conf config file on the remote server. You can usually find it in your default postgresql data directory ($PGDATA). For details on the pg_hba.conf file, checkout: http://www.us.postgresql.org/users-lounge/docs/7.1/admin/client-authenticati on.html#PG-HBA.CONF 2. You need to enter your port... even if it's the default port (5432), you _must_ enter it in the config settings 3. You need to enter a username which has read-only access to the system tables of your remote server (so just create any old user... they have this access by default). This should go in the stduser config setting. You do not need a password and this setting will be removed in the next release. For information on creating a user: http://www.postgresql.org/idocs/index.php?app-createuser.html http://www.postgresql.org/idocs/index.php?sql-createuser.html Once you get those items all set, you should be up and running. -Dan : Thanks Dan! I get a login page now. : I still can\'t seem to connect, but I\'m working on it. I must be missing : something. I don\'t quite have a grasp on the pgsql auth system yet. I\'m really : used to mysql\'s set up - different paradigm, totally. : : Thanks, : Stephen : : : Quoting Dan Wilson <kil...@us...>: : : > One of the first lines in lib.inc.php has a bug which affects : > everything... : > : > Change: : > : > if (defined(\"LIB_INC\")) { : > : > to be: : > : > if (!defined(\"LIB_INC\")) { : > : > A new release should be coming soon with this bug corrected. : > : > -Dan : > : > : > : > : I don\\\'t know how busy this list is...but I\\\'m having trouble : > getting : > phppgadmin : > : to work at all. : > : : > : Description: : > : : > : When I point my browser at <mydomain>/phpPgAdmin/index.php all I see : > is : > the two : > : frames with the main frame containing four old links to the : > greatbridge.org : > : site and a link to postgresql.org. : > : : > : I assume this is the default if it doesn\\\'t get a connection to the : > DB. : > : : > : In conf.inc.php I have: : > : : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'local\\\'] = false; : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'host\\\'] = \\\'<myremotehost>\\\'; : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'port\\\'] = \\\'\\\'; : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'adv_auth\\\'] = true; : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'stduser\\\'] = \\\'\\\'; : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'stdpass\\\'] = \\\'\\\'; : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'user\\\'] = \\\'\\\'; : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'password\\\'] = \\\'\\\'; : > : $cfgServers[1][\\\'only_db\\\'] = \\\'\\\'; : > : : > : I\\\'ve tried putting \\\"postgres\\\" into the \\\'user\\\' field, and I\\\'ve : > put in : > and taken : > : out the \\\'port\\\' (default port). : > : : > : I\\\'ve made my own script that connect no problem: : > : : > : $connection = pg_connect(\\\"host=<myremotehost> : > : dbname=test : > : user=postgres : > : \\\") : > : or die(\\\"Couldn\\\'t make connection.\\\"); : > : : > : Please let me know how to get this working.
