Category: General Group: 5.0-beta-1 Status: Pending Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Fernando A. R. Wendt (fwendt) Assigned to: Guillaume `ioguix` de Rorthais (ioguix) Summary: Special chars in database comments breaks up tree navigation Initial Comment: When creating a new database, or if adding/changing comments on a existing one, if there are special chars at the description, the navigation tree brokes. I believe it happens because the tree works with XML file format, and so, there special chars are not being translating to html entities, or something that the related schema supports. Maybe, when adding comments, all the string data comments should be pharsed on special chars to html entities - or something like the translators do. It probably will happen in co-related events too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Fernando A. R. Wendt (fwendt) Date: 2010-09-29 08:34 Message: Hi ioguix, I believe it is related with the PG server database locale config. I just do the same at my Windows workstation, and there, all things work great. But at this one, the default locale used was "C" - that accepts all enconding standards. On Linux, the default locale for the database i was using is seeting to "Latin1", and there the tree brokes. In this case, all special chars on comments data base creation fails. Making a new one database, changing the initdb command to make new locale and enconding setup (something like "initdb -D /var/pgdata --encoding=UTF8 --locale=pt_BR.utf8"), all special chars works, as well as tree. Pretty fine. So, i really do not know if its possible to handle this at PPA, if its really that behavior i am pointing. I have a new screen to send. So long, fwendt ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Guillaume `ioguix` de Rorthais (ioguix) Date: 2010-09-28 18:11 Message: Ok, I just found your screenshot, reproduce your test case, using 8.3.11 (you are using 8.3.7), portugues-br and latest dev tree. I couldn't reproduce your bug...see my screenshot in attachment. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Guillaume `ioguix` de Rorthais (ioguix) Date: 2010-09-28 18:01 Message: Hello, Using our current dev tree, I was unable to reproduce this bug. I am able to create a database called « 'te"/>s't » with this comment: « 'te"/>s't <br /> <node /> ». Could you please give us a test case that rise your bug ? What are your PPA and PostgreSQL versions exactly ?
