Category: Databases Group: 4.2.2 >Status: Pending >Resolution: Duplicate Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Amitabh Kant (amitabhkant) >Assigned to: Robert Treat (xzilla) Summary: Error creating new db with non default encoding in Pg 8.4.2 Initial Comment: Hello Running FreeBSD 8.0 with Postgresql 8.4.2 and PHP 5.2.12 (standard installation through ports). Downloaded and installed phpPgadmin directly. While trying to create new database with any encoding except SQL_ASCII (my default encoding set during initdb), it gave an error: ======================================================================================= SQL error: ERROR: new encoding (UTF8) is incompatible with the encoding of the template database (SQL_ASCII) HINT: Use the same encoding as in the template database, or use template0 as template. ======================================================================================= Solution: line # 536 of file "classes/database/Postgres.php should be changed to: $sql = "CREATE DATABASE \"{$database}\" WITH ENCODING='{$encoding}' TEMPLATE template0"; Not sure if this is a change in 8.4.x series, or related to the FreeBSD port itself, but it solves the problem. If you're working against 8.4, I'd suggest grabbing a download from the git repo, there are a number of other fixes in there as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Robert Treat (xzilla) Date: 2010-01-16 15:11 Message: This issue has been resolved and is currently fixed in GIT. If you wish to acquire the fix, please download the updated code from http://github.com/xzilla/phppgadmin/ Alternatively, you can download a nightly snapshot from: http://phppgadmin.sourceforge.net/ Note that you may have to wait up to 24 hours for the latest GIT changes to appear in the snapshot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=418980&aid=2931606&group_id=37132 |
