I use the same history files since a long time. With changing to pgv 4.2.2 the titles with german umlauts will not shown correct.

$histo[] = "1 EVEN Französische Intervention in\n2 TYPE Historisches Ereignis\n2 PLAC Mexiko\n2 DATE BET 8. DEC 1861 AND 21. JUN 1867\n2

The german umlauts are only to see in NOTE or if it has a PLAC (place) in the title.

You need to use the utf8 character "ö" instead of the html entity "ö".

Also, the dates should be "8 DEC 1861", not "8. DEC 1861"

If I have german umlaut in the title, then the title is not to see anymore. The result is only: zwischen 8. Dezember 1861 und 21. Juni 1867 Mexiko - without text "Französische Intervention".

<<then the title is not to see anymore>>

    Can you post a screen-dump.

omayr - I guess you have mixed UTF8 and ISO8859 characters.

But without more information (e.g. the URL of your site), it is difficult to confirm.

The hist.xx.php file would be more useful than a screen dump
