I think the "revolutionary" tag needs updating - this is not a johnny-come-lately hack. A label more befitting it's status of "mature" might be deserved. It is innovative in the way that it allows collaboration with the world while I still retain control over privacy. Google searchable content, very good support for UTF-8 and the collaboration control are the deal makers for me. Thanks guys.

Brilliant product. Used it for years now, and never had any problems that couldn't be fixed within hours. Comments about requiring drivers for mysql that many hosts do not have (PDO), is more an indictment of bad web hosts than this product. PDO has been a standard part of PHP since ver 5.1 in 2005.

The latest version 4.2.2 requires settings in mysql that require a driver that many host do not have and do not want to activate (contrary to some phpgedview developers believe). Looks like 4.2.1 will be my last one used for a while after using the program for a number of years now. Seems their answer: "find a new host", "I can't believe any host wouldn't have that driver included" hard to change for the people I handle their websites for since many have paid up front for their host for years and not wanting to just lose their money and change host to keep current upgrades of phpgedview.

Very easy install (used it on one windows2003 and on one freebsd server). Before I used brother's keeper and to enable other family members to enter and check data themselves I switched to PhpGedView. Especially the import of the bk's data worked very well. Most I like the good compatibility and especially the options to easily assign tasks to other members.

The progarm is yery usefull to display GEDCOM files in the web. It has a lot ao option to relate and organize data, from different sources. Translation are not always perfect und sometimes for native speaker misunderstandable.

too much problems fixing the file permissions. I have a bug: parse error" when I install; no fixed found. Also you need a certain version of mysql that my host does not happen to have installed.
