#254 keyboard is one key behind

pearpc 0.4.0, SDL gui

When I type a character on the keyboard, it
does not appear until I type the next one.
It seems to be happening all the time, and
it appears that keystrokes are getting to
the OS running in pearpc one key later.

Also: Switching from fullscreen to window
mode leaves an extra [alt] keystroke around.
The symptom is that keys pressed pull down
menus, rather than are typed into an application,
until another [alt] is pressed.
