The core PDL distribution should provide support to allow PDL::PP based modules to work seamlessly with CPAN and PAUSE as far as indexing the modules provided. There are a number of ways to do this but we (the PDL developers and community) should settle on a "best practices" method and provide the needed build support for ExtUtils::MakeMaker, Module::Build and others.
Specific requirements:
- Information should only be entered once
- Ideally, module/package and version should be together
- A way to propagate this to other files/folders would be nice
Isn't https://metacpan.org/pod/Module::Build::Pluggable::PDL targeting this problem?
PDL uses ExtUtils::MakeMaker, not Module::Build.

The recent fixes by kmx to generate docs to include in the PDL distribution has addressed this problem. Thanks.
