#372 3.31Y not working with Yubi key correctly

I am using version 3.31Y and find that the Yubi key is basically useless, If I leave the Yubi key unplugged, open Password Safe 3.31Y and enter the safe password the file opens with no problems, this issue was also apparent in 3.29Y. My understanding was that you needed both the Yubi key and the safe password before you could open the safe

This depends on how you setup the Master Password.
If you used the YubiKey when defining it, then the Yubikey will be required, along with the password, when you open the database. If you did not use the Yubikey when defining the master password, then it won't be needed to open the database later.
You can change this via Manage->Change Safe Combination... for an existing database. See the online help for more details.

I am also seeing this problem on 3.31Y.
I followed the instructions found here to set the master password and Yubikey (for an existing safe).
However, I am able to access the safe within 3.31Y regardless of whether the Yubikey is present. It works when the key is plugged in and used, and it works when the key is not.

I was also able to access the safe from a non-Yubikey version.

Are the instructions on the Yubico website incorrect?

Sounds like the database isn't set up to use the Yubikey correctly. Do you click on the YubiKey button on the screen and then touch your YubiKey to access the database?

Thank you, you mentioning the YubiKey button made me re-read the instructions and I found where my error was.

Things are now working as expected.

Apparently when I had set the Safe up to use the YubiKey I thought the text-box that said "Click, then touch your YubiKey" meant to click the text-box. I did not realize it meant to touch the YubiKey button.

That will teach me to only skim the directions!
