I use Password Safe on two different computers and occasionally merge the two password databases. The merge feature seems to create exact duplicates constantly. I would like a tool that will search the entire DB and allow me to delete all duplicate entry (duplicate entries defined as two entries where every field is identical except the title. Ideally the user could see the two records side by side and decide manually. It should only be necessary to run this once.
In other words, Merge appears to be broken.
It would help if you could upload three sample databases (two mergees and the result) illustrating the problem.
I don't think it's completely broken... I think what happens is if you make a minor change to one record (such as changing the autotype sequence, etc.) it thinks it's a brand new record.
For now, I dumped the file to a tab-delimited text and wrote a script that removed the duplicates. There were roughly 100 out of 950 entries. I then created a new database and re-imported the file.
My apologies but I'd rather not upload my password database since it contains all my banking and other databases...
