I should have added to that....I started exploring how to add this functionality in a way that makes the most sense, so that I could pitch it to the developers. Although it is not considered a production requirement where I work, it is a BIG want by our help desk crew. When I am creating a switch I can only enter an IP for that switch. This limits the UI when displaying records in Node/view to show only the switch IP which I find quite unfriendly. A field for a switch alias would be nice then adjust the query for the UI to look for alias first, and if none exists use IP instead. The 'switches' page could be adjusted to display "IP - Alias - Type - Mode - etc... I would also like to thank the developers for your dedication to improving Packetfence. |
