http://www.canhealth.com/tfdnews0149.html Having lived and worked in Alberta for 4 years back the 80's this snippet made me wonder when Alberta took a left turn and abandoned its "free enterprise" mantra? <snip> Physicians in other provinces may wonder why Alberta doctors who already had working EMRs in place are switching to new ones when the rest of the country has barely made the leap from paper-based systems. The point of the exercise is to increase interoperability in the future by decreasing the number and complexity of different EMR systems. “Most of the legacy EMRs being replaced were obtained from vendors who were certified under Alberta’s VCUR 2006 program, which had 11 approved vendors. Under the new VCUR 2008 program, the goal is to migrate physicians from both paper and other EMRs to one of the three qualified vendors in this new program.” </snip> |
