Dear all, I just started to use Oprofile since I have to do run time profiling of BSD socket API functions. My goal is to draw the cumulative impact .i.e., cache hits, misses and load of these API functions at run time in context of the process they reside in. I mean only that load which is caused by those calls to API functions made from within the particular target process. Then, A separate graph for the whole of process with the same mentioned performance concerns. Then, of all the processes currently scheduled by kernel excluding the one under test. Is this sampling tool suitable for runtime profiling .i.e., as the process is being run these graphs are being plotted? Moreover any good manual or tutorial or book for Oprofile?
