Hi John,

It looks like you are using a RHEL kernel with a later version of 
OProfile. During the development there have been changes to the OProfile 
interface between user-space and the kernel. Unless, you know the 
details of the changes between the different version of OProfile, mixing 
of kernel and oprofile versions is discouraged.

The FAQ I have on OProfile for Red Hat stuff is a little out of date, 
but it provides a bit more information.
