Hello, I've compiled 2.6.8.1 kernel with oprofile enabled: # zgrep PROF /proc/config.gz CONFIG_PROFILING=y CONFIG_OPROFILE=m # and also compiled oprofile 0.8 version. Everything is done on IBM T22 machine with is mobile Pentium III based: # cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 8 model name : Pentium III (Coppermine) stepping : 10 cpu MHz : 995.731 cache size : 256 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 2 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr sse bogomips : 1970.17 Now, I would like to follow instruction to start and use oprofile, but the only thing I can get from it is ``You cannot specify any performance counter events\nbecause OProfile is in timer mode.'' My session looks: # ./opcontrol --no-vmlinux You cannot specify any performance counter events because OProfile is in timer mode. # ./opcontrol --start You cannot specify any performance counter events because OProfile is in timer mode. # ./opcontrol --dump You cannot specify any performance counter events because OProfile is in timer mode. Is there anything what I've made wrong? Or is this know issue in oprofile 0.8? Thanks a lot, Karel PS: I'm using ACPI as a PM. -- Karel Gardas kg...@ob...
