David, I totally blew away my PostgreSQL database, then re-ran the OpenNMS install to re-create it (which is the only way I have been able to make OpenNMS work correctly after the symptoms present themselves). I disabled the capsd and provisiond services by commenting them out in service-configuration.xml, then re-started OpenNMS. My question to you is: I now need to run discovery, but that depends on one or both of those services (I think - I can't discover any nodes when I try to force discovery to run)- would you like me to re-enable those services, run discovery, then disable them again, or would that defeat the purpose in terms of what you're wanting test? ________________________________ From: David Hustace <da...@op...> To: General OpenNMS Discussion <ope...@li...> Sent: Thu, August 12, 2010 8:56:24 PM Subject: Re: [opennms-discuss] Cannot create any SNMP Reports On Aug 12, 2010, at 6:08 PM, James Pierson wrote: I've been using OpenNMS since 2006, and have always (up until now) been able to resolve any issues that I've had, but I'm totally stumped on this one. Thanks again. Do me a favor and try something for me. First, get everything back to a working state using the method you describe then immediately shutdown OpenNMS and disable Capsd and Provisiond. Restart OpenNMS and just wait to see if your problem is fixed. If it is, first try re-enabling one of those 2 service daemons and restart. Don't change anything and just wait to see if the problem reappears. If it doesn't, re-enable the other service daemon and again watch for the problem to reoccur. Keep us posted. -D |
