Hi All, We on the developers list (ope...@li...) have been hard at work making big decisions and big cvs checkins. If you want to participate in development of OpenEJB, you should definitely join the ope...@li... mailing list. New faces, as well as old faces, are very welcome. Recently, we voted to add a simple, but string, remote server layer to the existing EJB Container System. This was the missing piece that stopped users from putting OpenEJB to the test as a standalone EJB Server. Now, OpenEJB is not just a pluggable container system, but also comes with a default server implementation as well. This means that after long adieu, you can finally put OpenEJB to work serving your ejbs to remote clients. We are working up an official beta release of OpenEJB so you can all give it a try. Expect this by May 15th. But, before we make this release, we have a special request. We would like you to send us EJBs and applications we can deploy and run. This would ensure that the initial gotchas are faced by the developers and fixed immediately, saving a hundred new users from having to deal with this headache. This will also help us tremendously in creating good documentation for the new server. You will get a full report from us on what it took to deploy your beans and app and what fixes and enhancements happened as a result. You will be thanked publicly on our website, and have the opportunity to talk about your application and company. Obviously we cannot deploy 100 applications, we will pick the top 10 that most challenge OpenEJB. Please send your EJBs and client applications to ope...@li.... We will respect the terms of your license and will not redistribute or share your code with anyone outside the core team. If you like, you may alternatively send the code to me directly at, dav...@vi.... Best regards and thank you, David Blevins OpenEJB Project Leader |
