No .. ish. The OPAL PString is defined as UTF-8 and has conversion functions to convert to and from UCS-2, which is to all intents and purposes UNICODE. So, the following should work: static wchar_t wide[] = _T("WIDE"); PString str(wide); cout << wcslen(str.AsUCS2()) << endl; You can look at OpanPhone which is UNICODE and see how it does things.
