I agree with Derek. The error line in tlibthrd.cxx is where it is creating a pipe which smells like it is running out of handles. PTLib/OPAL does use a LOT of handles, so if you really want to load up a single process you will have to use the PProcess::SetMaxHandles() function, and probably run as root. Alternatively, and this is what we would generally recommend, do not use the "one big process for a thousand calls" technique but break it up into lots of parallel processes.
